The aim of this study was to determine risk factors in the elderly Roma population. The project also aimed to improve risky behavior with information and orientation moreover promote the needs for services. We also intended to establish health promotion clubs with the help of local Roma leaders, social workers and public health officers. We used the data and experinces in a project aimed at screening for oral cancer.

Substance use in Roma and non-Roma adolescents.

Abstract:

Little data have been published on specific health indicators for Roma, especially on substance use and related problems, and to our knowledge no data are available for Roma adolescents. The objective was to assess substance use of Roma as compared with non-Roma adolescents.

BACKGROUND:

Roma adolescents have been shown to use less alcohol than non-Roma adolescents. This could be due to the protective influences of peers and parents.

OBJECTIVE:

The purpose of this study was to explore differences in the levels of peer and parental influence and their effects on drunkenness between Roma and non-Roma adolescents.
