Scholarship Application - Open Society Foundations

Dear Coleagues,

We would like to inform you that Open Society Foundations (OSF) offered 10 scholarships for participation on EUPHA's 5th European Conference on Migrant and Ethnic Minority Health. The scholarship will be offered for Central and Eastern Europe residents which will cover registration fee flight and accomodation.

Summary and Overview of '1st Conference on Tackling Health Inequalities through Human Resource Capacity Building in Europe'

Open Society Foundation - Roma Health Project (OSF-RHP) and University of Pécs Medical School (UP-MS) has a successful working relationship since 2010. As a recent step of this cooperation UP-MS organised an EU-level conference titled ‘1st Conference on Tackling Health Inequalities through Human Resource Capacity Building in Europe’ between 5th and 7th of September 2013 in Pécs. In cooperation with and support of OSF-RHP two Roma health related sessions were held at the conference:

05 Sept.: Challenges in Health Assistance of Roma People (Scientific session)

07 Sept.: Does the Higher Education System in the EU respond to the need for ‘Ethnic minority sensitive health assistance’? (Workshop)

OSF-RHP and UP-MS have launched a joint call for scholarship on conference and workshop participation to researchers who are active on the field of Roma Health.

Thanks to the financial support of OSF-RHP, this event was a good opportunity to learn from each other experiences, to see the main problems, tasks, challenges and practices on the field of health assistance of Roma people. Thanks to the participation and contribution of the grantees, we could saw a good and comprehensive picture from 13 experts of 8 European countries. Researchers have explained their opinion about the current opportunities that the higher education system in Europe can provide in order to respond to the challenges and needs for health assistance of ethnic minorities.
